Personal History Sandrine's formative years were heavily influenced by her family's highly successful business, which controls the majority of mining operations within the African Confederation. At the time the private enterprise was expanding its influence into other sectors of Federation space, leaving Sandrine with a mostly absent father and brothers all jockeying for a position within the business.

From an early age, she had little interest in the business. She intended to buck tradition and make a career for herself in law enforcement. She fully expected to meet resistance from the family; however, they were, to a man, supportive of her decision. She spent 25 years in law enforcement on Earth, climbing the ranks to retire as a Detective-Inspector
with the Central Africa Office's Criminal Investigations Division.

Sandrine spent a mere six months trying to retire before discovering a life of relaxation didn't fit. She took advantage of a Starfleet program for professionals transitioning into the fleet to sidestep age restrictions and joined the security program. Though she struggled at times with being less of a free agent than when she worked at CID, she adjusted relatively well to Starfleet and began to make a promising second career as a security investigations officer.
